2016

19sept2016
again i was in a rut, too much reflecting on the past, so much so that i was becoming bored with it all. so rather than raking my brain reliving shit. i thought i'd do a bit of trice ,then ,more now, and reflect on tomorrow.

21sept2016
opened up the calculator and done some mathematics. 16% of the century has been and gone. 2016 plus 1984= 4000 if that means anything, besides me pressing buttons. the age of consent. the century has come of age, 21st century adolescence. makes me think about voices of the new century. my calculations, 4 to 6 years and the new voices will be heard, as the 20th century slowly pasts, then picks up speed.

25sept2016
passing that is. at this particular moment, that's what this is about, i'm trying to figure out what makes this particular  minute. the minutes up and i thought about the spring equinox on the 23rd, that's the opposite up north. so spring has sprung. i didn't turn the heater on once during winter, a couple of cold days, just put the ugg boot slippers on. twenty years ago there would have been a few weeks of heater and slippers.

8oct2016
i think the trouble with now is there seems to be a kind of so called karma happening. what i mean by saying that is, all the shit that people swept under the carpet is catching up, all the old clubs are aging with no renewals of the right, best, interested people, is past. the solution of contrived tv shows , is a political correctness attempt to solve it. makes you a moron.

21oct2016
a few weeks have past , and the wheels of inspirational evolutionary change, have almost ground to a halt. you know there is such a place. these wheels, more like typewriter keys joined to an axle, that perpetually turn and fall according to the rate of change. events, such as movements, subtle or dramatic, influence these wheels. all these influences add up to the rate of change, hence evolution.

23oct2016
that last insert has to do with the subliminal picturesque imagery, that the unconscious has been bombarded with, for the past decades, which in 2016 are very much alive. i don't know if typewriter keys is the right word, not the buttons at the which the fingers touch. the things that hit the tape and paper. these wheels are also called the collective unconscious.

13nov2016
i don't even know what i wrote then. i could go on about the wheels, but i choose not to. i haven't really been caught up in the election, but it has touched my thought on this blog. plus the deaths of others, such as Leonard Cohen. on thinking about these type of people, i don't know them, i know their works, and apparently  on which we are not judged on. R.I.P. Hallelujah was not one of my favorite songs,of that album.  i preferred closing time, off the future recordings , although there is that cringe  factor. even the captain, i love dance me to the end of love.

14nov2016
my mind at the moment is with the loss of the special people of the 20th century, that automation will never equal.

21nov 2016
today i decided to take a trip to my old stomping ground, sort of. i took some photos

22nov2016
i didn't know how i was going work this out, these 8 photos were uploaded
on the 21st. we all know a picture has a 1000 stories. this is the first i took. it's
basically about adolescence. this particular sign was  about 8 to 10 foot above
the ground. which suggests previous signs had been tagged or vandalized. being at
such a height i could not read it properly, hence the photo, i read it later, magnified
on photoshop. before the train trip out i saw an "old flame" that's even in earlier blogs.
turned up at the train station, to me that was strange, to the point of the cloak of
invisibility. it worked okay  she was still at the station when the train pulled out. these
walkabouts are semi planned , this was no different, adventures. so when i seen her
still at the station checking for me on the train, looking where i knew she'd  be looking
and me sitting somewhere else, i was quite relieved. and like i said nothing is really that
planned. i actually wanted to ask her something, but was sort of glad , there was no
contact. after getting off the train i was in 2 minds about buying a bottle. i decided to
buy a bottle of stout an drink it in an old place an just soak up the past, then walk
home. the bloke in the bottlo used to work at the oxford, looked at me like he
didn't know , you know. i thought in my head i was a bit rough back then, and him
thinking is that cunt still alive.apparently he used to dress up in women's clothes ,
that was the word back then, i don't know that stuff

23nov2016
after getting off the train, there was these asian pilgrims at the station. the station
attendant woman was telling them ,as i walked passed, the temple is closed on mondays.
and the next train back will be in an hour, this played on my mind for a bit, which
has since dissipated somewhat to the point of null in void. that's the main reason for
dating these photos, and i'd know the story would change. not change, but my thinking
of relevant, remember the 1000 stories in the picture . so after getting the bottle
i had to think of a quiet place to have a refreshing bottle of cold ale. i ended up here.
next to the sign is these sport change rooms, dressing sheds. in my adolescence, i had
a dream , the beatles got back together and set up on the roof and played. although
i lived pretty close to here, even since 1966 it's not really a stomping ground, i never
really hung at these sheds. i think the flat roof and the actual size of the park probably
triggered the dream.

25nov2016
about a couple of days, maybe a week or so ago, i was on the train. there was
these stranger travelers talking shit about the scenery, probably from sydney. when
the train neared the station, one said, look  bosom mountain. i'd never heard that
before. it sort gave me a chuckle, and how people see things,1000 stories. that's
probably 1 of the 1000 reasons for this photo, though the view angle was different
to the strangers.
26nov2016
so now it's 5 days since, my mind's on other things, like i knew it would be. after
finding a comfy seat, opened the bottle, i thought about the sign and the pilgrims and
the temple and leonard cohen thinking the fakeness of it all. they were better off buying
a bottle and joining me for 35 minutes of enlightenment , before catching the train
back. as for leonard cohen, i tend not to speak ill of the dead, but something i
read recently, when asked , did he believe in God? he answered, i know God. the
reporter felt forfilled with the answer. without getting into some deep .... i think it's
more does God know you. and yes i know He does.
27nov2016
as time moves on, i become less creatively inthoosed  about doing this. although the
story is already written, it's just a case of jotting it down. so i opened the bottle, had
a drink , checked out the scenery . the weather was sort of hot and the air was a bit
smoggy . i took the photo. then put the camera away. thinking about this place, i
could go back more than 50 years personally. even so i have no real attachment
to the place, in fact i can get creeped out by the vibe of the place. even drinking the bottle
you get paranoid, you just get above it, the sign and all. still i was thinking about the
temple, they got that land for one dollar, for me to drink the bottle here can
cost me over one hundred dollars, or whatever it says on the sign.

28nov2016
probably one of the first things i noticed was the bent goal post. yonder is some
houses, i can remember when this flat land was ended  just after the houses. there
was two rugby league fields and then a  steep embankment. as small children we
would slide down the embankment on box cardboard. they moved the rugby
to figtree when i was quite young. the council  used the embankment for what
they called clean fill dump, probably they call it refuge now. they were still
dumping up till the late 70's. i had a great auntie who lived in one of those
houses.

29nov2016
as i sat drinking and thinking about where to after, i had in my mind to go the back way,
which there are a few paths. wondering, all of a sudden some young shirtless guys popped
out of the bushes to the right. me thinking nothings changed. probably the old tracks
are still there. so thinking i check it out after i finish me bottle. also i was thinking
about the mountain and these sheds. i was thinking how i could ride my bike
from here straight up the mountain. if you look at the photo just at the tip of that
black tree, you can sort of see a line. this is actually a road, more of a fire trail.
it gets steep, but you could get on the road that way. probably only done that
10 or so times. came home that way more, you could coast nearly all the way
in neutral with the motor off, no noise

30nov2016
i was also thinking about when the mountain was on fire, in 1968 . i was actually on
the tv news. a nun, me and this other guy , who ended up being a tranny. we were
hosing the ground through the smoke. a tv crew pulled up and took footage. it
turned out we were doing the wrong thing, it took water pressure away
from the fire brigade. we went back to the classroom and started praying.
i can remember all the girls crying. later that night i seen me on the telly.
black and white. that footage was shown a few times through the coming
years, i think it was lost in a storage shed fire in the 70s. i had a cousin whos
grandfather, my uncle married his daughter since divorced, lived right
at the top of farmborough road, that' s  where the fire trail road begins.
the story was the flames were that close he was on the back step cooking
toast. the next bit is hear say, remember the old flame at the station. she reckoned
her brother and her started the fire playing with matches, they would of been
5 years old , i don't know if that's true or not.

1dec2016
i think that'll do with that last photo. after finishing the bottle, probably about
25 minutes all up. i just thought about going and check out the old tracks to the
right. then i thought about an after photo, just to see if me drinking and thinking
there had made a difference, altered states.

8dec2016
again after a break doing other things, i had to rethink what i was thinking at the time. the
truth being of these photos, they're taken with a blurry eye. it's only later that i get to
view them. what i got out of this photo, was a few things at first. i settled for
a horizontal  rorschach test. you know captain cook as he sail passed these
parts, he noted hat hill, historians say that is mt keira, that's the other one.
this is mt kembla. be it bosom mountain or whatever name, i don't know this
mountain. but judging from this photo i think the mountain knows me.
it's not go tell it on the mountain, i also thought the sky a mirror.

11dec2016
i wanted  to make sure mt keira was the right mountain, i did some research.
*The earliest written record of the area known today as Port Kembla was in April 1770, during Captain James Cook's voyage of discovery up Australia's east coast on the Endeavour. His logbook recorded 'There lies a point which I called Red Point, and a little way inland stands a round hill, the top of which looks like the crown of a hat'. The hill Captain Cook noted was for quite some time referred to as Hat Hill but today is better known as Mount Kembla. Red Point, however, has retained its original name.
here is the original page. i knew my heart cook meant kembla

  9dec2016
i went to check out to see if the old track was still there, where i seen them
young guys were. it's changed heaps there, really over grown. i walked
farther along to where i made a motor bike track, close to 40 years ago.
the track still there and being used, suppose you've  heard the saying
make tracks. make it and they use it. you can see it down and up again.
there's a creek at the bottom.

10dec2016
this is the reverse photo, you can see the dressing shed straight down the center. i
used to love flying up here and wheelies across the park. at one time there used
to be10 or more hockey fields and they'd have these state comps here.

12dec2016
i was going to leave it at that, but a little bit more can be added. through the tree and
farther back pass the sheds on the horizon hills is the temple. them houses at which
i had a great auntie live to the right not in view. there also live a woman called
gummy shark, back in the fifties. she used go with men if you gave her a bottle.
one of my great grand fathers was gonna marry her , but this idea freaked my
grand mother out apparently . that's the story, it didn't happen. i didn't know
whether to put that in

this at the end of that track, they've put these bars in to stop bikes and horses. mainly
bikes. i can't remember if these were there back then. that track went here and also
at the back over there, there was an empty block, since a house is there.

14dec2016
you can see how wide the gap is. a fat person couldn't fit through. i could just wheelie
walk a bike through, of a small c.c variety. an 80cc just  wheelie through with your
knee on the seat. just drag it under is another way.

18dec2016
there's always something more. judging by the dirt on the fence, and being between
two creeks, i think motor bikes and/or horses or noise would be the last thing on
my mind living here. suppose you can stop the noise not the rain

24dec2016
i think that went okay, it's Christmas eve . i thought i wish
2016 merry Christmas

4dec2016
i decided to move on a bit from the mountain thing ,at which i can fill in at a soon later date. a few weeks or less, through twitter, lee  scratch perry posted he and the mad professor would play at the metro sydney. i figured out financially i'll go to this. i'm getting passed the going to gigs stage, have been for quite awhile. a couple of special ones here and there. the metro is the old tivoli on george street. so it turns out i won 60 bucks on the lotto during the week. i'll go an see scratch, he's getting on. you know rodriguez played in november, at 100 plus something dollars, that's out of my league. to tell the truth i prefer the records. as for live, i prefer feisty acts that are more into the music and trying to find a vibe. these type of bands usually are playing for the love of it. buskers are different again. personally i think, most buskers send out a vibe of crap. that i equivocate to the macdonalds crowd. i worked out i'll catch the earlish  train up. the money bit was a bit stretchy. not that i'm a full on drinker,  don't mnd the occasional binge , although i have inherited alcohol thing. i tend to not let it get a hold of me. since the bottle in the park, i've had one bottle, five or so days later. i settled on buying a cheap bottle of plonk, mac williams royal reserve tawny port. i thought about a mixer like coke or lemonade which i do if i buy a goon for home. a goon is short for flagoon , as i remember was a gallon or some amount, has since been widdled down to two litres , you can't even buy the royal in the 2 lts anymore, so i bought the 750ml at 9 dollars , last time is was 6.95, although last time i chose something else. so off i went another great adventure. on the way to the station came the great spoiler, old flame appears from nowhere with some words, off her head on something, i just ignored her, thinking fucking devils. so i got the train, bottle in bag, along comes a series of announcements, one - drinking alcohol or even having opened  alcohol is not permitted you can be asked to leave or fined $400.  i was fine with that, although there used to be a bar at the station, pubs ain't really pubs anymore. the gig wasn't till 8pm , i had 8hrs to roam around the city. in the 80s saturday arvy was pretty quiet up in the business district almost errie, the place closed down after 12. going through scarborough tunnel , thinking i walked through this, near the end , an announcement placing feet on seat and you will be fined. i laughed. i got off at town hall not far from the gig, i had a couple of swigs, this isn't about getting pissed, i had more than a several hours to waste. i decided to buy a bottle of soda as a chaser, more for hydration . now walk to the venue an check it out , how much. it said $40 on their website, a bit much but i was sort of happy with that. on the way , some bloke tried to hand me a leaflet. i told him i couldn't read it , he said take it anyway. i said i couldn't read it, he then said, i was going to hell. i said are you judging me , he said yes i judge you. after that harassment, i proceeded to the venue, down  the road a bit from town hall station. where the metro is. there used to be a snooker room downstairs, it's now a karaoke bar. i think the last time i was here was jonathon richman probably 20 yrs ago now. tacos were the thing here then, i remember eating a taco and thinking its changed since the 80s, i mean the people. the next minute, eddie charlton and his caddy came walking out of the snooker room, all dolled up in the spivvy snooker gear. he was spewing words , like i'll never come here again. i was thinking, not like it used to be, hey eddie. getting back to this, the venue was shut . i felt like having a swig, i thought i'd just go up the side road a bit, where i used have a smoke years back, outside  an exit door. next thing a siren goes off, i thought 1984, straight  away. they've got me now, fuck it, i just took a swig and walked through to pitt street. as i walked up pitt st, there's a church of the uniting kind. i thought i'd go in and pay my respects. i opened the door, i thought it was a wedding or something. i went back a 2nd time, i thought if it's a service i'll just hang at the back, being saturday i thought it strange maybe they have a saturday like the catholics have when you can't make the sunday, more dosh. i thought 7 day adventist, no. the guy came up and told me it was private meditation. not very uniting , i was fine with that. after that i walked towards the mall with the merriness sinking in, i needed a sink in which to relieve thy self. i asked a beggar, where's the toilets, second floor , up some escalators, where i've never been, maybe been when it was something else, like they say  a beans a bean but a pee is a great relief. then on my way to circular quay.  the jolly swag towards martin place, as i got closer the sound of bagpipes hit the ears. it sounded like amazing grace, i sort of sung it didn't really know the words properly. walking through martin place i noticed an empty bench seat to park thy posterior.

6dec2016
to me the bagpipes are like the didgeridoo, although the notes are more precise. the guy was all decked out in the scottish  gear. i stayed there and listened for a time.  in the state that was becoming upon me, it sounded okay. there was a christmas tree with lights , not dissimilar to what i do. a bit more high tech. they reminded me of them old dot matrix paper signs them early computers done, but with rgb leds array. the thing i noticed a lot was  people taking photos, even me. the difference  their using tablets and phones, me just a old digital camera. i took a few photos and had a few swigs. the afternoon sun started beaming down on the bagpipe player, he had some water so that was ok .after him playing a few numbers, and me a few swigs, and people just coming and going with their photo taking. i decided to ask him to play amazing grace again, i told him i heard it as i walked closer up the road, he said he never played it before.

link for utube footage

bagpiper in front of fountain

i never thought about that , i just threw an amount of coinage  into his case. and sat back on the bench and took the footage. after the song i had a swig a went. i was there for 30 to 45 mins, i was getting sloshy.

7dec2016
walked with indifference  to circular quay, meaning the state of mind which doesn't really acknowledge the outside and is just programmed on one thing, ie having a piss. toilets. i found them at circular quay. after that i walk around the quay. took a few photos, talked to some people, listen to a karaoke busker, finished the bottle.  walked. then waited. come 8 o'clock the doors open, i asked a bouncer how much? he said 55, i read 40 on the net. i had 55 , decided to wait some more. after about 20 minutes of waiting, i just thought fuck it, not interested any more. as much as i wanted to see scratch, it's not the same anymore.i checked the camera i have half a dozen photos i put up at a later date. i got home at 10.20 that was alright. if i would of stayed the  last train was 12.16 from town hall that was another reason. a 1pm train would have been more convenient.

1jan2017
so 2016 ended like it began, even with 1984 added too. started with fireworks and ended with fireworks. i'm so indifferent  to fireworks i could walk to circular quay and piss on the lot.

2jan2017
it's been about half an hour since the last blog, i  decided to go through some old photos from 1984 or there abouts, new years anyway , maybe 83/84 .

these photos are at circular quay in between the opera house and
the station. the caravan sold beer i think. it's after midnight i think.

3jan2017
there's always something more. i was gonna put a couple more photos from 1984. i didn't worry about it . the thing ,not most of ,but some, was no one taking photos much, no mobile phones then, or  much , maybe them brick type, no internet. they asked me what i wanted for xmas, i told them i wouldn't mind a camera. i meant a manual camera . i got a snap shot camera, beggars can't be chooses . i never drunk much on new years. the idea was to take photos of things.
