thought about those new years photos ,probably 84/85 as if it matters. going through them photos i came across one that had intrigued me then and now, sort of. i didn't worry about putting them other new years up. they were just of people from wollongong i seen up sydney that night. it's weird how you can go somewhere and bump into someone you know.

them new years eve 1984 photos would be among the first taken with that camera. over the years since to 1989, i must of taken heaps of photos. some okay , many not so good. from the start i got them processed through a chemist shop, the deal at which you got another roll of film thrown in. compared to today's digital stuff, it was quite expensive. not the photos i would of liked to have taken . i would call these more snaps. at least i had something and the negatives, at which these are taken from. some negatives have gone missing over the years, but a number had survived, to be digitized and shared. see how generous i can be. i think the shit who took the above photo tea leafed some negatives. that shit being a reason i don't like going through these so much. the new years are different , a time before.

in 1985 or there abouts, some artists friends convinced to move into their house. at that time i was living on my own in a flat within walking distance. i had been visiting them since about 1981. they sort of helped me keeping the punk thing going , even though i felt there wasn't the right people around, even sydney, to make an impact. their political views were somewhat different to mine, i would say their views were more radical to mine being more apolitical, working class labor at best, if any. the rent would be reduced substantially, which would help me financially. i didn't really have that much stuff to move really. i'd lived at that flat for a year and a bit, i saved a bit and brought a small middle size fridge. the flat wasn't so crash hot, but an okay sort of start. i think rent was the killer, especially when your working , come home have something to eat and go out. there was a dodgy , i knew from high school , hanging around, couldn't really say fuck off. there's always one. the move i thought i could shake him off. smackie. this is going off track from the photo, or longer than it should be. i think you get the story.

to put this back on track, the photo was a reject , i was really pissed off. i don't know how this came about. i think the artists left or gave me some film to use , maybe out of date or something. the film had been used, luckily only a few frames. that cost me money for that shit, hence double expose. 1985, 1986 doesn't matter still 27.

i didn't know where to start on this. the photo shows my room, or part of. the main reason i like this photo is the chess table. the story about the table goes back to 1973. i done woodwork as an elective subject at school. we were given the task of making a chess board. after making a semi finished board. we were then given the choice to make a small compact board or a table, in which we had to buy the legs at a hardware shop. so i made the table. come 1974, we had to make a drawer, using dove tail joints, not the one you smoke. so we make the drawer, after that we have to make something to put the drawer in. we had time to think about it. i remember one guy bought all these expensive timbers to make a cabinet to fit the drawer, heaps of work. i can't remember what most of the others done. i asked the teacher if i could bring the chess table in and bung the drawer under it. the teacher said it was up to us. so there you have it, no one else done that, the thing isn't finished properly even now, a bit of sanding under neath and a handle for the drawer. they all crowd round for the marking. i got 86%, i've rarely used it, to play chess, but was used as a little table.

i read that last bit, i actually read all of it, and it was hard to make much sense of it at first. it seems longer than 2017 that i wrote it. getting back to the last bit, reminded of what this bloke said about another photo i had in a photo album. he was a student from thailand i meet in the nineties. he seen this photo (the one below) and said mister simpson. i didn't know what he was on about .
